Stabenow Statement on Bipartisan Tax Relief for American Workers and Families Act

Thursday, August 01, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Stabenow released the following statement after today’s vote in the U.S. Senate on the Tax Relief for American Workers and Families Act. This bipartisan bill would expand the Child Tax Credit, lower costs for families, support small businesses, and address the affordable housing crisis in urban and rural areas.

“I’m incredibly disappointed that Senate Republicans blocked a commonsense, bipartisan tax bill that passed the U.S. House with resounding support. This bill is a win-win for our families and communities. It would expand the Child Tax Credit, helping more than 16 million children, including 474,000 kids in Michigan. The bill would add 200,000 desperately-needed affordable homes in both our urban and rural neighborhoods, and support millions of small businesses who want to innovate and expand. By blocking this, Senate Republicans made it clear whose side they stand on.”
