Stabenow Statement on Appointment of Robert Mueller as Special Counsel in Russia Investigation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) released a statement following news that the Justice Department has named former FBI Director Robert Mueller to serve as special counsel in the Russia investigation:

“I welcome the news that the Justice Department has appointed a special counsel to look into ties between President Trump’s campaign and Russia.  Former FBI Director Robert Mueller is a highly qualified and well-respected law enforcement official who served both Presidents Bush and Obama.  I encourage him to move quickly to examine the facts and conduct a thorough investigation.  The American people deserve answers so we can move forward and focus on jobs and the other critical challenges facing our families and communities.”
