YPSILANTI, MI – U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow (MI) and Gary Peters (MI) today announced that the Willow Run Airport will receive a $10 million federal grant to reconstruct its runway. This funding comes from the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP).

“Investing in Michigan’s airports protects the safety of our flyers and grows our state’s economy. This grant will help reconstruct the Willow Run Airport runway, which is necessary for Michigan’s businesses to transport their products and improve commerce in our state,” said Senator Stabenow.

“Willow Run Airport helps Michigan businesses move their products to customers around the globe safely and efficiently,” said Senator Peters. “By allowing the airport to upgrade their infrastructure, this funding will help promote commerce throughout the region and bolster our state’s economy.”

The Willow Run Airport received a FAA AIP grant in September this year. The airport received $403,157 to acquire new snow equipment.

On March 23, 2018, H.R. 1625, the Consolidated Appropriations Act became law, which provided the AIP an additional $1 billion in discretionary grants. More information about FAA AIP grants can be found at https://www.faa.gov/airports/aip/.
