U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin today announced support for Secord Township Fire and Rescue to improve operations and safety. This $142,833 grant comes through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

Senator Stabenow said, "Today's announcement is great news for the Secord Township Fire and Rescue and families in Gladwin County. Our first responders risk their lives to keep our families safe, and they rely on these resources to do their jobs safely."

Senator Levin said, "Every day, communities depend on their local fire department to respond to fires and other emergencies. This grant will support Secord Township Fire and Rescue in their difficult and dangerous work."

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant program is part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). These competitive grants will help fund professional training programs, update equipment and facilities, and provide new supplies to help first-responders handle hazards efficiently and effectively.
