Wednesday, September 17, 2014

U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin today announced support for the Marquette Fire Department to improve operations and safety. This $50,624 grant comes through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

"Today's announcement is great news for the Marquette Fire Department and Michigan families," said Stabenow. "Our first responders risk their lives to keep our families safe, and they rely on these resources to do their jobs safely."

"Every day, first responders in Marquette stand ready to protect lives and property in their community," said Levin. "This grant will support the firefighters of Marquette Fire Department and help them in their vital mission of keeping their city's residents and visitors safe."

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant program is part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). These competitive grants will help fund professional training programs, update equipment and facilities, and provide new supplies to help first-responders handle hazards efficiently and effectively.
