Senator Stabenow Statement on Treasury Department Guidance on Electric Vehicle Tax Credit
Friday, December 01, 2023WASHINGTON—Senator Debbie Stabenow, senior member of the Senate Finance Committee and leader on electric vehicle policy, released the following statement today on the U.S. Department of Treasury’s foreign entities of concern guidance on the electric vehicle tax credit provision in the Inflation Reduction Act:
“The intent of the Inflation Reduction Act has always been to tackle the climate crisis and invest in America’s workers who are making the vehicles and technologies that will help us win the global clean energy race. As I have said before, the electric vehicle tax credit language is not what I would have written. Despite this, we need this law to work. The Treasury Department did a good job being tough where we need to be while making sure our auto companies can build the best vehicles in the world in America. I will continue to work with the Biden-Harris Administration, our Michigan manufacturers, and workers to create good-paying jobs right here in the United States.”
