Senator Stabenow Statement on Supreme Court Decision on Presidential Immunity

LANSING, MICH – Senator Stabenow released the following statement on the U.S. Supreme Court decision granting presidents absolute immunity from prosecution for their official acts.

“This is a dark day for American democracy. Our Founding Fathers believed that presidents are not kings, and that no one is above the law. This MAGA Supreme Court has once again gone rogue – first by taking away a woman’s right to choose and now by shielding presidents from prosecution if they abuse the powers of their office. I am deeply concerned about the precedent this sets for our country going forward.”
