WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) cast her final vote in the United States Senate on Saturday, one of 7,791 votes cast during her 24 years representing the people of Michigan.

Senator Stabenow made history as the first woman from Michigan elected to the United States Senate, where she has served Michigan’s 10 million residents for 24 years. Over this time, she has responded to over 3.5 million people, 12,000 new people every month, who have contacted her Senate office to request assistance or share their views.

Senator Stabenow is passing the torch to a new generation of leaders, beginning this next chapter in her life after 50 years of public service as a County Commissioner, State Representative, State Senator, Congresswoman, and U.S Senator.

“As I begin this next chapter in my life, my heart is filled with gratitude for my family, my colleagues, my staff, and, of course, for the people of Michigan who have put their trust in me over these past 50 years,” said Senator Stabenow. “From protecting our Great Lakes, to transforming mental health services, and ensuring Michigan can continue to make things and grow things to be competitive in our world economy, it has been the honor of a lifetime to represent and fight for the great state of Michigan. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

Senator Stabenow’s term ends on January 3, 2025. View her farewell speech here.
