Senator Stabenow Announces Nearly $500,000 to Improve Housing in Northern Michigan Rural Communities

WASHINGTON D.C. — U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), Chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, today announced that several Northern Michigan rural communities will receive a total of $496,040 to improve housing in the area. These funds come from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Housing Preservation Grant program.

“This funding will help Alpena, Alcona, Ogemaw, and Crawford counties continue to provide residents with quality, affordable housing. Investing in our rural communities not only helps the people who call these areas home, it makes the whole state of Michigan a better place to live and work,” said Senator Stabenow.

Alpena County will receive $147,760 to repair or improve 28 housing units. Alcona County will receive $77,760 to repair or improve 10 housing units. Ogemaw County will receive $122,760 to repair or improve 20 housing units. Crawford County will receive $147,760 to improve or repair 17 housing units.
