Friday, May 04, 2018

U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, today announced new federal support for the Howard City Fire Department.

The Village of Howard City's Fire Department will receive $12,000 to purchase new radios, turnout gear, hoses and other equipment that will help protect more than 1,800 local residents.

"Emergency responders need reliable equipment to protect our families, homes, and businesses," said Senator Stabenow. “This funding will help Howard City’s Fire Department better serve our community safely and efficiently.”

This investment comes through the USDA's Rural Development Community Facilities Grant program, which funds critical infrastructure needs in rural communities in Michigan and across the country. The current Farm Bill, which Senator Stabenow authored, made this grant possible.
