U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, Chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, today announced a Rural Development Grant for the City of Vassar Police Department. The grant, made available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development Initiative Community Facilities Grant Program, will be used to help purchase a new police vehicle for the City of Vassar Police Department to help them serve and protect local residents.

"We depend on our men and women in uniform to be there in times of crisis, and they depend on us for the support they need to do their jobs," said Stabenow. "This funding will help the Vassar Police Department perform their duties and protect the public."

The police department will receive $10,000 to help replace its current vehicle. Stabenow is Chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, which has jurisdiction over rural development projects.
