Stabenow,
Levin Hail $800K for Muskegon County Airport
|
| WASHINGTON
— U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Carl Levin (D-MI) announced
today that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded $800,000
to Muskegon County Airport through the American Recovery and Reinvestment
Act (ARRA). The funding will be used to purchase an aircraft rescue and
firefighting vehicle.
“The safety of our travelers is always a first priority,” Stabenow said. “I’m pleased that this recovery funding is giving Muskegon County Airport the equipment they need in order to properly respond to emergencies.” “This funding will help Muskegon County Airport ensure the safety of travelers and staff in the event of a disaster,” said Levin. “I am pleased that this economic recovery act funding will be used to fill a pressing need and help keep air travel in Michigan safe and efficient.” The ARRA set aside $1.1 billion
to make discretionary grants under the Airport Improvement Program (AIP),
with priority given to projects that can be awarded quickly and completed
within two years. The AIP provides grants to public agencies and other
entities for the planning, development and improvement of public-use
airports that meet certain criteria. |
