WASHINGTON — U.S. Senators
Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Carl Levin (D-MI) announced today that Detroit
Arsenal will receive $3,669,961 and Camp Grayling will receive $800,000
in Department of Defense (DOD) funding as part of the American Recovery
and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The funding will be used for a variety
of construction and maintenance needs. “This federal economic recovery funding will help preserve and create jobs at the Detroit Arsenal and Camp Grayling,” said Levin. “I am pleased that this funding has been distributed quickly to help get our economy back on track while also providing for needed upgrades at military installations in Michigan and around the country.” The funding comes as part of the Facilities Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization portion of the ARRA. $835 million was distributed nationwide to perform needed repairs and upgrades, increase energy efficiency, upgrade utilities systems and improve quality of life for service members. This is in addition to the $11.55 million of ARRA funding for the Detroit Arsenal and Michigan National Guard installations that was previously announced by the DOD on March 20, 2009. More detail on the funding awarded in Michigan can be found in the table below. Installation/Location Project
